Mission and Vision

MISSION: Sharing God’s plan of hope and a future.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

VISION: Auburn Church of the Nazarene will be a non-threatening and secure environment for hurting, broken people needing a place for a new beginning in Jesus.

Through the empowering of the Holy Spirit, we will provide:

  • A place where people receive love, acceptance, compassion, support, and forgiveness from God and each other.

  • A place where people of all ages find hope, and physical, spiritual, financial, and relational healing.

  • A place where children and teens discover Jesus as Forgiver, Leader, and Friend in a loving, safe, creative, and exciting environment.

  • A place where small group ministries are offered to everyone.

Our Core Values

We value prayer. Through prayer, we praise, confess, thank, make requests, and receive direction from God.

“I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders.” Psalm 9:1

“And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” James 5:15-16

We value a complete commitment to Christ. We teach and encourage all believers to seek and live a holy lifestyle. We believe all Christians should seek to become more useful to God through continuous pursuit of scriptural wisdom and personal development.

“Therefore; I urge you, brother, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God — this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing, and perfect will.” Romans 12:1-2

We value a mission mindset. We expect to be consumed with the awareness of God’s ability to change the lives of unbelievers. Through our spiritual gifts we will become a bridge between Christ and the lost.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

We value the life-changing results of small groups. Since life change is best encouraged in an intimate setting, we encourage everyone to be involved in a small group. These groups give us a vehicle to pursue loving, compassionate relationships and accountability with God and others. As we do life together, the enemy will not be able to break through our fellowship and destroy people’s lives.

“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one more than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:12-13

We value worship that exalts and inspires. Worship is a life experience that connects us with God.

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his, we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” Psalms 100:1-5

We value strong Biblical preaching. God’s Word will be preached in a culturally relevant manner without compromising the integrity of the Scripture. We anticipate divine moments. God’s Word is the foundation for our lives and choice.

“In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instructions. II Timothy 4:1-2
